 Many humans fear heights and/or potential crashes. Cats aren’t thinking about crashes and they can’t see the ground to realize how high up in the air they are, but they have other big and legitimate worries. The cat is in the plane’s cargo hold, by itself. It’s human not with it. As I’ve pointed out in other Quora posts, Dr. Kristyn Vitale’s cat research has shown that cats’ social intelligence has become highly developed and is closely tied to wanting to be with its human. The cat doesn’t know where the human is, it just knows that it is alone, and that means it will be unhappy and stressed.
