It shows a failure to make a connection to another human being. In most relationships both parties bond with pets and both people and the pets become a family unit. My wife and I raised a puppy who wants to be with both of us to be happy and yet our barn cat doesn’t tolerate me except for coming when I feed her. I don’t have any issue with the cat as she has a job to do(keeping the barn free of rats) and my wife puts me first over our pets. At one time I had a girlfriend who had a cat that she would allow to climb all over the freshly washed and dried towels. I’ve owned several cats over the years and that’s not an acceptable behavior in my opinion. At any rate you need to reevaluate your relationship and perhaps find a woman without a pet or one willing to put you first in the relationship. Don’t expect that to happen if she has children. They will always come first at least until they are grown and that’s something you’ll have to accept if you want that relationship.
