 Every cat has its own personality. Although Siamese are very smart and Maine Coons are very affectionate. Read up on yours, you might be surprised. You might be surprised anyway, ’cause as I said, every cat is different. Give it a chance, at least. I had an absolutely GORGEOUS long hair cat given to me once; it hid all the time. Shivering, it was sad. I was really concerned because 1) I get along with animals very well; and 2) the place was quiet all day as I worked, but…. nada. Gave her to a nice, nice family, approx.12,000 kids and even more friends, loud & boisterous and she LOVED it. Must have been her background. I’m so glad I did that.
