I was running shingles up a ladder and hanging drywall at 10 yrs old working for my father. I went to work for a large landscape company in my early 30s after working at a smaller one since I was 19 and ran circles around most of the Hispanic employees there most of whom were in their 20s. The race has nothing to do with how well you do your job experience and conditioning does. I have a family full of roofers. And they all started running half bundles and bundles of shingles when they were about 8 to 10. My cousin started working full time during the summer with us when he was 12. Didn’t have any problems carrying shingles. The first time you carry that rubber roof up a ladder is crazy. It’s about 80 to 110 lbs. Dude was just weak.
